Nepal exits group stage after losing to Scotland
Kathmandu – Nepal has been eliminated from the group stage of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifiers. Nepal lost to Scotland by 72 runs in the match played today.
Chasing a target of 141 runs set by Scotland, Nepal was all out for 68 runs in 13 overs and 5 balls. Nepal’s Bindu Rawal and Roma Thapa scored 14 runs unbeaten. Scotland’s Abtaha Maqsood took 3 wickets.
Earlier, Scotland, who had batted first after losing the toss at the Tribhuvan University Cricket Stadium in Kirtipur, were all out for 140 runs. Scotland’s Priyanaz Chatterjee scored an unbeaten 45 runs. Nepal’s Manisha Umadhyaya took 4 wickets and Rubina Chhetri took 3 wickets.
With this, Nepal’s chances of reaching the Super Six have ended. Scotland has made it to the Super Six. Meanwhile, all six teams that will reach the Super Six of the ICC Women’s T-20 World Cup Global Qualifiers have been decided. With today’s results, Scotland, Netherlands and Thailand have reached the Super Six from Group ‘B’.
The United States also advanced to the Super Six after defeating Papua New Guinea by five wickets in Group A. Ireland and the United States, along with Bangladesh, have advanced to the Super Six from Group A.
The top four teams from the ‘Super Six’ will qualify for the Women’s T20 World Cup to be held in England and Wales this June.
