AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup: Preliminary squad announced for second round qualifiers

Kathmandu: The ANFA has announced the preliminary squad of Nepal’s for the second round of the AFC U-20 Women’s Asian Cup Qualifiers.

The ANFA has selected as a Head coach for Yam Gurung with other names of 32 players in the first round.

Gurung has included most of the players from the team who played in the first round of selection before, along with the players from the team who are playing the SAFF U-17 Women’s Championship.

Similarly, regular members of the national team, Priti Rai, Deepa Shahi and Amisa Karki are also in the team.

According to the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA), the closure of coaches will start from April 4. The qualifying matches of the second stage will be held from June 3 to 11.

In order to qualify for the AFC U-20 Women’s Asian Cup to be held in Uzbekistan in 2024, Nepal will have to finish in the top two.

Group A

  1. Australia,
  2. Vietnam,
  3. Lebanon and
  4. Iran

Group B

  1. Nepal
  2. China,
  3. Myanmar and
  4. Chinese Taipei

The top two teams from both groups will qualify for the final tournament. Nepal became the first round group winner and qualified for the second round.

In the first round match in Palestine, Nepal defeated the home team and the Northern Mariana Islands by the same score of 6-0.
