Army wins the title of Bhadrapur Jhapa Gold Cup

Kathmandu: Tribhuvan Army Football Club has won the title of the first Mustang Bhadrapur Jhapa Gold Cup.

Army Club won the title by defeating Machindra Football Club by 4-3 in the tiebreaker In the final match held on Tuesday.

After the scheduled 90-minute match ended in a goalless draw, another 14-minute extra time was played.

After no goals were scored in the extra time, the game went to a tiebreaker. With the victory, the Army received 1.3 million rupees and Machindra, who became the runner-up, received 7 million rupees.

In the competition, Army’s Samit Shrestha was declared as the best goalkeeper, Machchindra’s Sujal Shrestha and Church Boys’ Ashish Chaudhary were declared as the top scorer, Machchindra’s Saurav Rai as the emerging player, Army’s Raju Tamang as the best coach. They got Rs 25,000 in cash.

Machindra’s captain Sujal Shrestha was the best player of the tournament. He got one lakh rupees in cash. Congress General Minister Vishwaprakash Sharma handed over the prizes to the winners and runners-up.

Meanwhile, the organizers presented a motorcycle to ex-footballer Gambhir Rai as a lifetime achievement award.
