KATHMANDU: The first Test match of the three-match series between Pakistan and Australia will be played at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi from today.

This historic event will be witnessed by a full crowd as all the available tickets for the match have been sold out.
Australia has toured Pakistan for the first time since 1998 when Mark Taylor-led Kangaroos visited the South Asian country. This time, Australia will play three Tests, three ODIs, and a one-off T20I match against Pakistan.
Earlier, the two teams met in either Sharjah, UAE, Sri Lanka, or even England as international cricket went missing from Pakistan after the 2009 terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan team.
During the tour of Pakistan, Australia will play three Tests, three ODIs and one T20I. The games will be played in Rawalpindi, Karachi and Lahore.
Australia had earlier visited Pakistan in 1998. Since Australia’s last visit to Pakistan, the population of Pakistan has increased by 225 million, making it the first time Australia has visited their country for 220 million Pakistanis.
Due to the civil war in Pakistan, very few foreign cricket teams were going to Pakistan. Foreign teams have been visiting Pakistan since last year.
