Kathmandu: Austria have won their first ever Euro Cup. Austria are playing in the Euro Cup for the third time, beat North Macedonia 3-1 in the 16th edition on Monday.
North Macedonia, who made their Euro Cup debut in the same edition, did not have a good start as Austria added three points to their victory over the group.
Austria had not won a single game before the Euro Cup in 2008 and 2018 and had drawn only two games. Both times Austria was eliminated from the group stage.
Stefan Liner, Michael Gregorisdb and Marco Arnautovic all scored in Austria’s victory over Bucharest, Romania. Captain Goran Pandev scored for North Macedonia.
Liner scored in the 18th minute to give Austria the lead, but Goran equalised in the 280th minute.
In the second half, both of Austria’s alternate players entered the goal and scored. Michael scored in the 78th minute and Sensitive in the 90th minute to give Austria a comfortable victory.
North Macedonia’s Goran Pandev became the second senior player to score in the Euro Cup. He scored in 37 years and 321 days.
