KATHMANDU: Cristiano Ronaldos early goal could not save Manchester United have lost the first match of the new season of the European Champions League. The Young Boys beat Manchester United 2–1.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored a goal for United. Ronaldo took the lead in the 13th minute. This is Ronaldo’s 135th Champions League goal.

But United could not maintain the lead. United were reduced to 10 men in the 35th minute when Aaron Van Bisa was sent off for a red card.

In the 66th minute of the match, Nicholas Gamleu of Young Boys equalized. The Young Boys won 2–1 after Theoson Jordan scored in injury time.

The Young Boys, who are in Group F with the win, have added 3 points.
