Kathmandu: Fernando Torres has coached Atletico Madrid’s U-19 team. He had previously played for Atletico as a player. This time he has returned to the Spanish club with different responsibilities.
After the first training session, he was proud to be back home. He said on social media that he was happy to return to the club where he played and captained. “I am happy and proud to be back home,” he wrote. “I am now facing a new challenge and will continue to serve my beloved Atletico.”
Now Torres’ main task will be to improve the academy of the La Liga champions. Torres played for Atletico from 2001 to 2007. He then played for Liverpool and Chelsea in the Premier League before moving to Italian club AC Milan.
He returned to Atletico on loan in 2015 and played permanently from 2016 to 2018. He then played for Japanese club Sagan Tosu.
