The Nepali national football team returned home on Thursday after playing two international friendly matches against Bangladesh. Nepal had played two friendly matches against Bangladesh in Dhaka under the Mujib Borso FIFA International Series.

ANFA Vice President Shikshit Parajuli welcomed the Nepali team and officials at Tribhuvan International Airport.

Nepal lost the first of the two matches played in Bangladesh and drew the other. Bangladesh won the two-match series 1-0 and kept the trophy at home. Nepal lost the first match 2-0 and the second match ended in a goalless draw.

Six young players got a chance to make their debut in the national team through a friendly match in Bangladesh. Defenders Bhikash Khawas, Eric Bista and Darshan Gurung made their debuts in the first match while Chiring Gurung, Pujan Uparkoti and Sesehang Andambe made their debuts in the second match.

Before leaving for Bangladesh, seven players contracted corona during training and this time eight new players got a chance in the national team. Goalkeeper Deep Karki and defender Dilen Loktan did not get a chance to enter the field.

According to ANFA, the players of the national team who returned from Bangladesh are now staying at the ANFA Complex Hostel in Satdobato. Team manager Madhusudan Upadhyaya, who was confirmed to have corona infection on Wednesday, is currently in Bangladesh and will return to Nepal only after corona negative.

Similarly, goalkeeper Kiran Chemjong has left Bangladesh for India to play in the I-League. Kiran is playing I-League of the new season from Round Glass Punjab.

Another Nepali player Abhishek Rijal is also playing for Mohammedan FC in the new season. Mohammedan has been selected as the winner of the I-League qualifier.
