Barcelona will not be able to sell Messi in 2021

Superstar Lionel Messi’s contract with Spanish club’s Barcelona is only until the summer of 2021. It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post.

After 2021, Messi will be able to move to other clubs. But Barcelona’s current management committee will not be able to approve Messi’s departure in January.

Following the resignation of club president Josep Maria Bartomeu last month, the permanent directors have limited authority and cannot decide on a major transfer.

The saga is unlikely to end soon after Messi voiced his displeasure this week.

“An interim board can take over the management and administration functions organized by the previous regime, but there are limitations to the activities required to maintain the club’s normal activities,” the Barcelona club’s rules said.

According to the British newspaper The Sun, Manchester City can offer 50-60 million euros for Messi. One possible subject of the deal could be City defender and former Barcelona Academy graduate Eric Garcia. Barcelona are also planning to sign Garcia.

Garcia’s contract expires in 2021. But the city is not willing to reduce the price according to its demand.

However, as the board is unable to sign the transfer, they are focusing on what they can achieve, and this is the first and foremost thing in arranging an election for a new club president. The election date is now set for January 24 next year.

The second task is to reduce the salaries of the club’s footballers and other staff due to the financial crisis caused by the Corona epidemic. The club is understood to have sent a proposal to all its staff, with them expected to respond by November 23.
