Kathmandu: Nepal has lost against India in Asia Cup cricket. India defeated Nepal by 10 wickets in the match held at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Sri Lanka on Monday night.
In the rain-affected match, India got a target of 145 runs in 23 overs on the basis of Duckworth-Lewis rule. India achieved the target in 20 overs without losing any wicket.
Captain Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill scored half-centuries for India. Rohit added 74 runs and Shubman added 67 runs.
Earlier, after losing the toss and being invited to bat first, Nepal was all out after scoring 230 runs for 2 wickets in 48 overs.
Asif Sheikh scored the maximum 58 runs for Nepal, he hit seven fours. Similarly, Sompal Kami scored 48 runs with the help of two sixes and one four.
Kushal Bhurtel scored 38 runs with the help of three fours and two sixes. Deependra Singh Airi scored 29 runs in 25 balls. Gulshan Jha scored 23 runs.
Similarly, Bhim Sarki was out after scoring 7 runs, captain Rohit Paudel after scoring 5 runs and Kushal Malla was out after scoring 2 runs. Sandeep Lamichhane scored 9 runs while Lalit Rajvanshi could not even open the account.
In bowling, Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammad Siraj took 3/3 wickets for India.
With this defeat, Nepal is out of the competition from the group stage itself without scoring a single point. Earlier, Nepal was defeated by Pakistan.
With this victory, India has reached ‘Super Four’. Pakistan has already reached ‘Super Four’ from Group ‘A’.
Which team will reach the ‘Super Four’ from Group ‘B’ will be decided by the match between Sri Lanka and Afghanistan on Tuesday.
The Super Four match will be played from next Wednesday. The final match will be held on 17 September.
