Kathmandu – Nepal has been defeated by Yemen in the second round of Asia qualifiers under FIFA World Cup Football 2026.
Nepal lost to Yemen by 2-0 in the match at Dasharath Stadium in Tripureshwar on Tuesday. Although the first half of the match ended in a goalless draw, Yemen scored 2 goals in the second half.
For Yemen, Omar Abdullah scored 72 and Abdullah Al Dahi scored in the last minute. Earlier, Nepal lost to UAE by 4-0 in the first match of the second round.
Nepal defeated Laos in the first round of qualifying and reached the second round. Group ‘H’ of the second stage includes UAE, Bahrain and Yemen along with Nepal.
The top two teams in the group will advance to the next stage of the Asia Cup as well as the World Cup qualifiers. The third and fourth placed teams will have to play again to reach the Asia Cup.
