Kathmandu: 10 athletes Players have received Olympic scholarships for the Summer Olympics to be held in Paris, France in 2024.
The Nepal Olympic Committee has selected 10 athletes from 10 sports for scholarships on Wednesday on the recommendation of the relevant sports association. The selected athletes have been approved by the International Olympic Committee.
The goal of the scholarship is to qualify for the Olympics. Among the selected players are Sanyog Kapali of table tennis, Payish Yonjan of fencing, Nasir Yaha Hussain of swimming, Prince Dahal of badminton, Manita Shrestha Pradhan of judo, Sushmita Nepal of shooting, Unisia Rai of taekwondo, Deepak Lama of dance sports, Subhash Tamang of golf and Sagar Bhandari of weightlifting.
Under the scholarship, each athlete will receive $750 per month and this will continue until the final selection for the Olympics. The scholarship will be maintained until the Olympic competition, which is successful in the selection.
The money provided by the Olympic Committee will be spent on all the processes required for training, international participation, sports materials, insurance, health examination and other preparations.
The International Olympic Committee has started providing this type of scholarship since the 2004 Athens Olympics.
