WAF Women’s Championship 2024: Nepali beat Iraq 5-0

Kathmandu: Forward Sabitra Bhandari Samba of the Nepali National Women’s Team has completed 50 goals in international football.

Savitra completed the milestone by scoring 5 goals in the match against Iraq today under the WAF Women’s Championship in Saudi Arabia.

Sabidha scored all five goals in the 5-0 win against Iraq. Earlier, in the first match of the WAF Championship, she scored only 1 goal in a 4-1 win against Syria.

After scoring 6 goals in two matches, she made history as a Nepali player with 50 goals in international football.

Samba, known as the Goal Machine, scored her debut goal against Bhutan in the SAFF Women’s Championship in Pakistan in 2014. His 50th goal was against Iraq.

Along with SAFF Championship, Sabitra has scored goals in South Asian Games, Olympic Qualifiers, Hero Women’s Gold Cup, Nadezhda Gold Cup and international friendlies.

She has scored 19 goals while playing four times in the SAFF Championship. Similarly, she scored 5 goals while playing in two South Asian Games (SAG).

Samba has scored 4 goals while playing Olympic qualification twice. Similarly, she scored 4 goals in the Hero Gold Cup in India in 2019 and scored 7 goals in the Nadezhda Gold Cup in Kyrgyzstan in the same year.

Apart from this, she has scored 5 goals in friendly matches. In which there are 2 goals against Malaysia, 2 goals against India and 1 goal against Bangladesh.

Samba scored the most goals against Bhutan with 9 goals. Then she scored 7 goals against Maldives.

The hat-trick against Iraq is the fifth hat-trick of Samba’s career. Earlier, she has scored two hat-tricks against Maldives and once against Bhutan and Kyrgyzstan.

She scored 6 goals i.e. double hat-trick in one match against Bhutan when she scored her first hat-trick in the SAFF Women’s Championship in India in 2016. In the same season, she scored 5 goals with a hat-trick against Maldives.

Similarly, in 2019, she scored a hat-trick in the Nadezhda Cup against Kyrgyzstan at the same ground. In the same year, she scored a hat-trick against Maldives in the 13th Saag in Pokhara.
