Kathmandu: The Nepali women’s team has won the first friendly football match against Bangladesh by a margin of 2-1.
Savita Rana Magar and Preeti Rai, who made their debut for Nepal, sang. Savita scored in the 13th minute and Preeti in the 23rd minute.
In the first half, Nepal was ahead by two-nil. But in the tenth half of the game, Bangladesh scored a goal. Thoura Khatun scored for her in the 83rd minute.
Nepal is going to play a friendly match with Bangladesh to prepare for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup-2022 selection. The second friendly match will be played on Sunday.
Nepal scored two goals in 23 minutes in front of the home ground and the spectators. As the main striker of the team Savitra Bhandari was out of the field due to chat, Sabita Rana had earlier played in the front row. Along with Sabita, 16-year-old Priti also played in the front row.
In the 14th minute of the match, debutant Sabita Rana gave Nepal the lead by scoring a pass from Vimala Chaidhary. In the cross provided by Vimala, Sabita hit a header from inside the penalty area.
In the 23rd minute, another debutant Priti Rai increased Nepal’s lead by scoring a pass to Saru Limbuka. Priti hit the offside trap in the pass provided by Sarul from near the middle of the field.
In the tenth half, Nepal lost the opportunity to score early on. In the 49th minute, Priti Rai’s shot from inside the penalty area was saved by Bangladeshi goalkeeper Rupna Chakma. In the tenth half, Nepali players showed problems in fitness. Nepal could not do well in finishing.
Taheura Khatun scored a consolation goal for Bangladesh in the 83rd minute.
For Nepal, Sirjana Singh made her debut in the 81st minute and Rashmi Kumari Ghising in the 86th minute. The tenth friendly match between Nepal and Bangladesh will be played on Sunday.
