Kathmandu: With thousands of visiting of fans to impress, the Netherlands left coach Mark Parsons disappointed after conceding against Sweden at the start of the Women’s European Championship title defense.

It took Jill Roord’s goal on the turn in the 52nd minute to cancel out Jonna Andersson’s goal — only the third in 51 appearances for the Sweden wing back — to recover a 1-1 draw for the Netherlands in Group C on Saturday.
Sweden, the second-ranked team in the FIFA women’s rankings, held the Netherlands to a 1-1 draw in Sheffield, England on Saturday night.
Sweden’s Yana Anderson scored the first goal in the 35th minute. The game ended in a draw in the 52nd minute when Jill Rhord of the Netherlands returned a goal.
In the other match of the same group, Switzerland and Portugal have also drawn 2-2.
Comba Sou and Rachel Kivich of the Swiss team scored the first two goals in the game. However, Portugal’s Ribeiro Gomez and Manenje Silva scored twice in the second half to level the game.
After Saturday night’s games, all four teams in Group C have added one point each.
There will be two Group D matches in Eurocup football on Sunday night. Today, when Belgium plays Iceland, France and Italy will face each other.
