World record holder Angrita Sherpa was laid to rest today with national honors. Sherpa, who had successfully climbed the world’s highest peak, Mount Everest, 10 times without oxygen, was in Kathmandu on 5 September.
He was buried this morning at Teku Dobhan according to religious tradition. Minister for Tourism Yogesh Bhattarai paid homage to his body by flying the national flag. Security personnel saluted Sherpa.
Sherpa’s body was taken to Teku Dobhan along with the funeral procession. The funeral procession was attended by Lama religious leaders, climbers, relatives and others.
