Kathmandu: Oman beat USA by 72 runs in the final match of the triangular series of ICC Cricket World Cup League 2.
Following Oman’s 275-run target, the United States lost all their wickets in 39.5 overs to score only 202 runs. Gajanand Singh added 48 runs while Monak Patel top-scored for USA with 56 runs. The rest of the players could not perform well and the USA was all out 10 overs earlier. Oman’s Ayan Khan took 4 wickets and Khanwar Khali took 3 wickets.
Earlier, after losing the toss at the Al Amaret Cricket Ground in Muscat, Oman had scored 274 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 50 overs.
Captain Jason Maqsood was the top scorer for Oman with 53 runs. Similarly, Jatinder Singh scored 42, Ayan Khan 41 and Prithvi Kumar Machi and Sandeep Gaud scored 25 runs apiece. Nasim Khushi added an unbeaten 35 while Kalimullah remained unbeaten on 16.
Nostus Kenzige of USA took three wickets. Oman won three of the four games in the series while the United States lost three games. Oman added six points after winning three games while Nepal added four points after winning two games. The United States managed to add only 2 points from 1 victory.
Oman tops the Ligue 2 table with 22 points from 14 games. The United States, which has played 16 games, is in second place with 14 points.
Scotland is in the third position with 9 points from 8 games while Nepal is in the fourth position with 8 points from 8 games. After winning two games in Oman, Nepal jumped two places from the sixth position to the fourth position.
