Sweden beats Japan in Women’s World Cup semi-finals

Kathmandu: Sweden has reached the semi-finals of the Women’s World Cup after defeating former champions Japan.

After defeating Japan 2-1, Sweden reached the semi-finals and will now play against Spain.

Sweden took the lead in the 32nd minute through Amanda Illisted’s goal and doubled the lead in the 51st minute through a penalty.

Philippa Angelada took advantage of the penalty in the 51st minute, she got after Japan’s Nagano was seen handing in the penalty area in the VAR.

But although Japan got a penalty, Riko Yuki could not score. Japan got a penalty in the 76th minute.

With 3 minutes left in the game, Honoko Hayashi scored a goal, but that goal could not prevent Japan’s defeat.
