JYC’s football team has been a regular Martyr’s Memorial “A” Division Club Football League outfit.
The Club was founded in the 2029 BS (1972 AD), we are one of the very oldest and Popular Club in Nepal based in Jawalakhel, Lalitpur, Bagmati Province. Though it was formally registered in 1972 (2029 B.S), Jawalakhel football team has a glorious history of over 80 years.
We started playing B Division league as a Jawalakhel-11 in 2024 BS even though we were not registered. We played A Division league from 2031 BS and we had two teams in 2032 BS for A division League.
Our club led by Nar Shumsher (chief of Public team) had secured first position in 1934 tournament (The football tournament was organized for the first time in an institutional way in 1934, in which 12 teams participated). At that time, our club had got support and encouragement from Trichandra campus and audience.
In the decade of 30s, both local and palace teams commonly used the Jawalakhel ground for playing football. Our ground is one of the oldest and best places for football in Kathmandu Valley Nepal.
From 2029 to 2039 the club was under ward-04 president and operated by president as a coordinator/chief of the club. After 2039 the club was operated by the elected committee.
We ran many sports/games at that time like football, Volleyball, Table Tennis, quiz contest etc. We had mainly focused on Football and Volleyball. From 2050 BS Volley ball team separated from the football team and they start running the volleyball game separately.
So, from that day on we are only focusing on football game. Till the date we had 9/10 presidents who ran the club. We have won many prizes from Volleyball and Football.
The club has been successful in producing national players, coaches and referees of national and international stature in football. JYC is also social organization as it has been conducting various activities like Blood Donation, Health Camp, and Environment Awareness Program etc.
With over 500 members the JYC prides itself on its achievements both on and off field, in particular its ability to provide a friendly family-oriented environment which invites and facilitates all willing participants and supporters from the local community and abroad. Over the past 40 years the club has worked closely with various business enterprises in order to upgrade and improve its current facilities, along with the promotion of sporting involvement to the wider community in a joint initiative
