Kathmandu: A 10-member team is leaving for Japan today to participate in the Tokyo Olympics.
Judo player Sonia Bhatt, judo coach Surya Narayan Shrestha, shooting coach Kalpana Pariyar, shooting coach Asim Yadav, Nepal Olympic Committee NOC executive director Chaturananda Raj Vaidya, team leaders Sunil Kumar Shrestha, Tulsi Thapa and Prakash led by National Sports Council Rakhep Member Secretary Ramesh Kumar Silwal. Shamsher Rana and Surya Narayan Shrestha will go to Japan as medical officers.
A five-member team led by NOC Chairman Jeevan Ram Shrestha will leave for Japan next Monday. Similarly, Rakhep Vice President Shiva Koirala, Athletics player Saraswati Chaudhary, Coach Indira Malla and NOC Deputy General Secretary Pitamber Timsina will leave for Japan on July 25.
Earlier, a three-member Nepali swimming team has reached Japan. The Tokyo Olympics will be held on the 8th of this month. A 26-member team including five athletes, coaches and officials from Nepal will participate in the Tokyo Olympics.
President Vidyadevi Bhandari bade farewell to the Nepali team participating in the Olympics yesterday.
