Kathmandu: Nepal has defeated Malaysia by 85 runs in the tri-nation T20 International Cricket Series.
Following the target of 224 runs given by Nepal, Malaysia was all out for 138 runs in 19 overs with five balls to spare. Birandeep Singh scored 47 and Ahmed Faiz 33 runs for Malaysia. Sandeep Lamichhane took three wickets for the bowlers.
Similarly, Kamal Singh Airy and Dipendra Singh Airy took two wickets each. Similarly, Kushal Bhurtel and Rahit Padel took one wicket each.
Earlier, after losing the toss at the TRI Cricket Ground, Nepal lost five wickets in the allotted 20 overs and scored 223 runs. For Nepal, Dipendra Singh Airy scored 110 runs off 57 balls with the help of 6 sixes and 10 fours. Similarly, Rahit Padel scored 51 runs.
On the bowling side, Malaysia’s Muhammad Waqif, Pawandeep Singh, Sajrul Idrus and Muhammad Amir took one wicket each.
Papua New Guinea (PNG) has reached the final after losing to Malaysia in today’s match. Even though Malaysia and PNG have the same two points, PNG has reached the final on the basis of net run rate.
Nepal has already reached the final. The final game will be played on Saturday.
