BARA: The Himalayan Sherpa Club has entered the finals of the Jagdamba 13th Jeetpur Simra Gold Cup held in Simra.

Makwanpur 11 stunned Hetounda by 3-0 in the match held at Simra on Wednesday evening and entered the finals of Himalayan Sherpa Club. Himalayan Sherpa Club entered the finals after a decade by playing an aggressive game against Makwanpur in the first semi-final match held at Simra Stadium on Wednesday.

After winning the title of the second edition of the competition held in 2067, it became the runner-up in the fourth Simra Gold Cup of 2069. Sherpa, who has been continuously participating in the Simra Stadium, has made a trip to the finals for the third time after a decade.

Himalayan Sherpa took the lead in the 29th minute of the game with Sushil Rai’s goal. Sushil scored a goal from the penalty area on Abyomi’s pass and gave the team the lead. Abyomi and Sushil, who made a counter move by taking the ball from Sherpa’s area, made Sherpa’s lead possible in the first half.

Man of the match Nishan Limbu became the hero in the victory of Himalayan Sherpa. In the 74th minute of the game, Nishan, who entered the field in place of captain Vishwas Shrestha, scored two attractive goals.

Himalayan Sherpa secured a 3-0 victory with Nishan Limbu’s personal second goal at the last minute of the game and decided to go to the finals.

In the fourth minute of the injury time, Nishan added another goal through a pass from Himalayan Sherpa’s Milan Rai. Makwanpur had to concede the third goal in the last minute due to a defender’s mistake inside the box. Makwanpur 11, who played an attractive game against Bharatpur Football Club in the quarterfinals, looked innocent against Himalayan Sherpa.

Makwanpur could not create memorable opportunities against Sherpa. As part of the competition, the second semi-final match will be played between former winners New Road Team NRT and Church Boys United on Thursday. Chairman of the organizing committee Ramchandra Lama informed that Vice President Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav will be present as the chief guest of the final match on Saturday.
