Kathmandu: Nepal lost to Namibia by 40 runs in the ICC Cricket World Cup League Two in Scotland on Monday.
Chasing the target of 221 runs set by Namibia, Nepal lost all their wickets in 46.5 overs and managed to score only 180 runs.
After this victory, Namibia has overtaken Nepal in the table. Namibia is in fifth place with 16 points from 16 games. Nepal has dropped to the sixth position with 15 points from 17 match. Nepal will play Scotland on Wednesday.
Arif Sheikh scored an unbeaten 50 runs but Nepal could not reach the target due to lack of speed and partnership. Batting at number six, Arif hit two fours off 84 balls.
Dev Khanal added 34 runs and Kushal Bhurtel added 27 runs. In the middle order and lower order, none of them scored 20 runs except Arif. Karan KC added 19 runs off 11 balls.
For Namibia, David Visa, Bernard Scholts and John Franklin took 2-2 wickets.
Namibia, who had earlier won the toss and elected to bat, lost all their wickets in 47.3 overs and were all out for 220 runs. Nicole Lafty Eaton was the top scorer with 60 runs. Diwan La Cucu added 41 runs.
For Nepal, captain Sandeep Lamichhane took the most 4 wickets. He scored 54 runs in 10 overs. Similarly, Sompal Kami took 2 wickets and Karan KC and Dipendra Singh Airy took 1 wicket each.
Wasir Ahmed, who made his ODI debut in the same game, bowled economically and took one wicket for 18 runs in 7.3 overs. Arif Sheikh had run out Craig Williams through a direct hit.
