Italy beat Austria 2-1 in the second pre-quarterfinal in Euro Cup 2020

Kathmandu: Italy has entered into quarterfinals of the Euro Cup 2020 after defeating Austria with the help of a substitute goal with a 2-1 in their second pre-quarterfinal on Saturday night.

Federico Chiesa and Mateo Pesina scored for Italy in a game at Wembley Stadium in London. Sasa Kalaisic returned a goal for Austria. Italy will now play the winner of the match between Belgium and Portugal in the quarterfinals.

The match went into extra time after the scheduled 90 minutes ended in a goalless draw. In the first half, Ciro Immobile of Italy hit the post and came out. In the 67th minute, Marco Arnautovic scored a goal to give Austria the lead but VAR did not recognize the goal as it was offside.

Italy, who survived with the help of VAR, scored two goals in extra time.

An extra time of 30 minutes was added after both teams failed to score in the allotted time. In the fifth, 95th minute of the game, substitute Federico Chiesa scored on a pass from Leonardo Spinazola to give Italy the lead. He entered the field in the 84th minute in place of Dominic Berardi. This is the eighth time in Euros that Italy has played in extra time and scored the first goal.

In the 105th minute, another substitute Mateo Pesina doubled Italy’s lead with a goal. Entering the field in place of Niccolo Barela in the 67th minute, he scored on a pass from Francesco Aserby.

In the 113th minute, Sasa Kalasis of Austria reduced the goal difference by scoring a goal.

Italy’s record of not scoring a goal in international football for 1,142 minutes has been broken. Italian goalkeeper Dino Joff did not score for 1,142 minutes from 1972 to 1974.

Italy scored the first goal after 1,168 minutes. Italy won the game without conceding a goal in 11 consecutive games.

Italy has broken its 82-year-old unbeaten record. Unbeaten for 31 consecutive games, Italy broke the previous record of 30 games set in 1935-39.

Brazil and Spain hold the record of being unbeaten in 35 consecutive games in international football.
