Kathmandu: Nepal has suffered another defeat in the ICC Cricket World Cup League Two. Nepal lost to the United States by six wickets in their third match of the ongoing triangular series in Oman on Friday.
Nepal defeated USA in the first match and lost to Oman in the second match. Batting first in the UAE, Nepal lost all their wickets in 48 overs and added only 174 runs, which was met by the United States in just 29.3 overs losing four wickets.
Opener Steven Taylor top-scored for the United States with 92 runs. He was the one who handled the innings of USA which lost 2 wickets while scoring 22 runs. He shared 97 runs for the third wicket with Monank Patel.
Karan KC, who took Taylor’s wicket in the third ball of the 20th over, dismissed Sanjay Krishnamurthy for zero in the next ball. But new batsman Jayakaran Malhotra has teamed up with Monaco to lead the US to victory. Monank remained unbeaten on 38 and Jayakaran on 36.
Nepal’s Sandeep Lamichhane and Karan KC took 2-2 wickets. Before that, Nepal, which lost the toss, did not have a good start. Adding only 5 runs, opener Asif Sheikh was out for 3 runs.
Captain Gyanendra Malla shared 49 runs with Kushal Bhurtel for the second wicket. Kushal was out for 36 runs. Rohit Poudel was out for 2 runs while Binod Bhandari added only 10 runs. But debutant Gulshan Jha made another important partnership of 51 runs for the fifth wicket with captain Malla.
Gulshan was out for 28 runs. Kushal Malla zero, Sompal Kami returned to the pavilion for 2 runs while Karan KC scored 12 runs. In the third ball of the 46th over, Captain Malla was dismissed for 55 runs. Sandeep Lamichhane scored 11 runs while Susan Bhari remained unbeaten on 2 runs.
Saurabh Netravalkar took 4 wickets for USA while Kyle Philip took 3 wickets.
