Kathmandu: Nepali national women’s football team has been announced for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup-2022 selection.

Head coach Gary Phillips on Tuesday announced a 23-member squad of 28 players in closed training. Amisha Karki, Anchali Waiba, Hima Chaudhary, Manisha Raut and Sharmila Thapa have been dropped from the team.

Six players have made it to the national team for the first time in the team announced by ANFA. Midfielder Priti Rai, forward Rashmi Ghising, Sabita Rana, Rajni Thokar, defender Srijana Singh and Nisha Thokar have been included in the national team for the first time.

Nepal is in Group F in the selection to be held in Uzbekistan. Nepal is in the group of Philippines and Hong Kong. Nepal will start the selection by playing with the Philippines. The match between Nepal and the Philippines will be played on September 20.

Similarly, Nepal will face Hong Kong in the second match. The game will be played on September 20. The group’s match between the Philippines and Hong Kong will be played on September 8. The top team of the group will play the Asian Cup in India next year.
