Kathmandu: Novak Djokovic began his Wimbledon title defence with a rusty four-set win against Kwon Soon-woo on Centre Court on opening Monday.
In the opening game of the third Grand Slam tennis tournament of the year, which started on Monday at the Center Court in the United Kingdom, Djokovic started 3-1 over Kwan Sun Woo of South Korea.
Djokovic won the match against Kwan 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.
Djokovic, who missed the Australian Open due to coronavirus-related health criteria and a visa issue, is looking for his first Grand Slam tennis title this year.
Djokovic lost to Rafael Nadal in the semifinals of the French Open.
On the first day of Wimbledon, British Andy Murray defeated James Duckworth of Australia 4-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-4.
Another British player, Emma Radukanu, defeated Allison of Belgium 6-4, 6-4 in straight sets in the first round.
