Kathmandu: Nepal has made a winning start in the ACC Women’s T20 Championship. Nepal made a winning start by defeating Bhutan by 50 runs in a match that ended some time ago in Malaysia.
Following Nepal’s 95-run target, Bhutan were all out in 17 overs with five balls to spare. He managed to score only 44 runs. For Bhutan, Chiring Jangmo scored 16, Engawang Choden scored 8, Sonam Choden scored 5 and Pema Solden scored 4.
Nepal’s Sangeeta Rai took 4 wickets while Kavita Kunwar took 2 wickets and Ashmina Karmacharya, Sita Rana Magar and Indu Barma took 1/1 wickets each. After winning the toss and batting first, Nepal lost 9 wickets in 20 overs and scored 94 runs.
Kajal Shrestha top-scored for Nepal with 26 runs while Indu Burma scored 20 runs, captain Ruvina Chhetri scored 21 runs and Dolly Bhatta scored five runs.
Similarly, Sita Magar added 4 runs, Mamata Chaudhary added 3 runs and Bindu Rawal added 1 run. Ashmina Karmacharya and Jyoti Pandey were out for zero runs.
Sonam Paldon of Bhutan took 4 wickets while Anju Gurung and Tashi Cheki took 1/1 wickets each.
Nepal will now play Kuwait tomorrow under the championship.
Similarly, Bahrain will play against Hong Kong on Monday and the final match will be played against Hong Kong on Tuesday. There are 10 teams participating in the championship.
The participating teams are divided into two groups. Nepal is in Group B along with Hong Kong, Kuwait, Bhutan and Bahrain.
Similarly, Malaysia, UAE, Oman, Qatar and Singapore are in Group A. The two teams that reach the final of the championship will be selected in the Women’s T20 Asia Cup Cricket.
