Kathmandu – Al Nassr finished their AFC Champions League Two group stage campaign in spectacular fashion on Wednesday night, dismantling Al Zawraa 5-1 at Al-Awwal Park. The victory ensures the Saudi giants head into the knockout rounds with a perfect record of six wins from six matches.

The match was effectively decided in a clinical first half where the home side’s star power proved too much for the visitors from Baghdad.

The scoring opened in the 12th minute when Kingsley Coman found the back of the net following a well-placed assist from Ângelo. The momentum stayed firmly with Al Nassr as Wesley Gassova doubled the lead just seven minutes later.

The onslaught continued through the half-hour mark. In the 29th minute, Abdulelah Al-Amri made it 3-0, finishing a chance created by João Félix. Félix then turned from playmaker to goalscorer just before the break, slotting home in the 44th minute after being set up by Cristiano Ronaldo, sending Al Nassr into the locker room with a commanding 4-0 lead.

Al Zawraa showed signs of life early in the second half. Ibrahim Tomiwa pulled one back for the visitors in the 50th minute, assisted by Mohammed Qasim Majid, briefly giving the travelling fans something to cheer about.

However, any hopes of a miraculous comeback were swiftly extinguished. In the 56th minute, Kingsley Coman secured his brace, finishing a pass from Saad Al Nasser to restore the four-goal lead and finalize the score at 5-1.

Statistically, Al Nassr controlled the flow of the game with 56% possession and a total of 18 shots, eight of which were on target. While Al Zawraa managed nine shots of their own, they struggled to break through a disciplined Al Nassr defense more than once.

With this result, Al Nassr finishes at the top of Group D with a maximum 18 points and a staggering +20 goal difference. Despite the heavy defeat, Al Zawraa finishes the group stage in second place with 9 points, which is enough to see them progress to the next round alongside Al Nassr.

The match was officiated by referee Ming Fu in front of a celebratory crowd in Riyadh, marking a perfect end to the opening stage of the continental competition for the home side.
