Kathmandu: Nepal will play Oman in a one-day practice match on Saturday. The match will start on Saturday morning at 9:30 AM at the TU Cricket Ground.
The match will be 50-50 overs. Nepal is going to play a practice match before the ACC Premier Cup. This is the last opportunity to determine your best playing XI. Players will be used as needed from the 21-member team in closed training.
During practice matches, any player in the team can play, not the playing 11. This game will not get any international recognition. Nepal will be captained by Rohit Paudel and Oman’s Zeeshan Maksud. Nepal has not announced its final 14 member squad. After the practice match, Nepal will announce the final team.
On the other hand, Oman has arrived in Nepal with a 14-member team. In the ICC World Cup League-2, Oman finished second and Nepal third and reached the World Cup qualifiers. Nepal had won 11 of the last 12 matches in League-2. Nepal has won the last 8 games in League 2 at home.
The ACC Premier Cup will be held from May 5th to 18th at the grounds of TU and Mulpani. Group A consists of Nepal, Oman, Qatar, Malaysia and Saudi Arabia. Group B consists of UAE, Hong Kong, Kuwait, Singapore and Bahrain. Nepal is going to play three games in TU while one game is going to be played in Mulpani.
Nepal is going to play against Saudi Arabia on May 11. Nepal will start their first match against Malaysia on May 5th. The winning team will get to play in the Asia Cup in Pakistan next September.
They will be able to play against India and Pakistan in the Asia Cup. The top three teams will be eligible to play in the ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup in July.
