Kathmandu: Nepal has reached the qualifiers of the Cricket World Cup after defeating the UAE in the World Cricket League Two.
Chasing the target of 311 runs given by the UAE at the Trivial Cricket Ground, Nepal scored 269 after losing 6 wickets in 44 overs after the game was stopped due to rain, Nepal won on the basis of the ‘Duckworth Lewis’ rule. Nepal won by 9 runs.
With the win, it is confirmed that Nepal will play the direct qualifiers of the One Day Cricket World Cup. There is a possibility that Nepal will play against South Africa, Sri Lanka and other test recognized countries in the qualifiers in Zimbabwe.
With today’s victory, Nepal has 40 points in League Two and Nepal has reached the third number behind Namibia. If Nepal wins, Namibia will not get to play the qualifiers directly. In today’s match, 4 players scored fifty in Nepal.
Kushal Bhurtel scored 50, Bhim Sarki 67, Arif Sheikh 52 and Gulsan Jha scored 50 for Nepal. Junaid Siddiqui of UAE took 3 wickets.
