Nepal lost 3-0 to Australia in the second round of the World Cup 2022 and Asia Cup 2023

Kathmandu: Nepali national football team coach Abdullah Almutairi has responded that he is happy with Nepal’s performance against Australia. Despite losing 3-0 to Australia on Friday in the second round of the World Cup 2022 and Asia Cup 2023, the game is commendable, said Almutairi.

Nepal was reduced to 10 players at the end of the second half. Nepal scored two goals in the first half and one goal in the second half. Coach Almutairi said that Nepali players played in Gorkhali style. He seems to be satisfied with the performance of 10 or 11 players.

Australia scored two goals against Nepal in the first half while Rohit Chand of Nepal got a red card. Australia added only one goal in the second half.

Earlier, Nepal had lost 5-0 in a match played in Australia in 2019 BS.

Nepal’s coach Abdullah Almutairi had said before the match that Nepal, which has been eliminated from the World Cup qualifiers, will focus on performance rather than results with a strong team Australia in the final match. He had changed five players in the Nepali team that played against Jordan in the previous game against Australia.

Along with Anjan Bista, Abhishek Rijal, Santosh Tamang, Dinesh Rajbanshi and Vikas Khawas were replaced by Sunil Bal, Eric Bista, Vishal Rai and Gautam Shrestha.
