Kathmandu: India has won the title of the 13th edition of the SAAF Championship Football.
Nepal lost to India 3-0 in a match played at the National Stadium of Maldives on Saturday night.
The first half of the game was a goalless draw. India scored two goals two minutes after the first half and took another three-goal lead at the end of the game.
Captain Sunil Chhetri scored in the 48th minute, Suresh Singh in the 50th minute and Sahad Abdul in the 89th minute.
Nepal, which had not reached the final of SAAF before, had made history by reaching the final of SAAF this time. But Nepal has failed to make another history by winning the title.
In 2013, Nepal defeated India 2-1 in a clean sweep of Nepal. Nepal has lost 7 out of 9 matches against India since then and 2 matches have ended in a draw.
