Kathmandu: Sri Lanka have beaten Ireland by 70 runs in the ICC T20 Cricket World Cup.

Sri Lanka defeated Ireland by 70 runs in the match played in Abu Dhabi last night for the second consecutive victory. Following Sri Lanka’s target of 172 runs, Ireland were bowled out for 101 in 18 overs with three balls to spare.

Captain Andy Balbrini scored 41 runs for Ireland. Similarly, Curtis Campfer was out for 24 runs. Other players could not add a double digit run. Sri Lanka’s Mahesh Thiksana took 3 wickets to wrap up Ireland cheaply.

Lahiru Kumara and Chamika Karunaratne took 2/2 wickets each. Earlier, batting first, Sri Lanka lost 7 wickets in 20 overs and scored 171 runs.

Sri Lanka’s Vanindu Hasaranga de Silva top-scored with 71 runs. Earlier in the day, Namibia had beaten the Netherlands by six wickets.
