Nepal women’s football team starts the closed training

Kathmandu: The closed training of the Nepali national women’s football team for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup qualifiers has started on Monday.

According to the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA), head coach Gary Phillips has invited 45 players for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2022. The players of closed training have been selected on the basis of their performance in the National League last February.

Nepal’s top scorer and main forward Savitra Bhandari is not in the list of 45 people called by Phillips. She is currently undergoing treatment for injuries. Savitra has already decided to lose the competition. The list is dominated by players from three departmental teams. There are a total of 35 players from three departments.

Nepal is scheduled to play its group match at home next September in the selection of the Women’s Asian Cup to be held in India next year.

Nepal is in Group F in the selection. Nepal is in Group F along with Hong Kong and Philippines. The AFC has stated that the qualifying matches will be played from September 13 to 25 (September 28 to September 9). The top team in this group will be selected in the Asian Cup.
