Kathmandu: Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic has defeated Andrey Rublev in four intense sets to advance to the Wimbledon semi-finals at the All England Club on Tuesday.
He conceding the first set spurred Djokovic on to greater heights and closed out a ferocious last game in the third set to take a lead and ultimately sealed a 4-6 6-1 6-4 6-3 victory.
Similarly, on the women’s side, world number one Iga Sivatek has been defeated. Police player Sivatek was defeated by Elina Vitolina of Ukraine in the quarter-final with a 2-1 set. Vitolina won the match against Sivatek 7-5, 6-7 and 6-2.
In the next match of the quarterfinals, Marketa Vondrausova of the Czech Republic has also reached the semi-finals after defeating American Jessica Pegla 6-4, 2-6 and 6-4.
