Kathmandu – Oman defeated Malaysia in the ACC Men’s Premier Cup. Oman defeated Malaysia by eight wickets in the match held on Sunday.
Oman met the target of 228 runs given by Malaysia by losing two wickets in 41 overs. Oman’s Jatinder Singh scored 101 not out. Similarly, Kashyap Prajapati scored 66 and captain Jeshan Maksud scored 52 not out. Muhammad Amir of Malaysia took two wickets.
Earlier, Malaysia, who lost the toss and batted at the Mulpani Cricket Ground, scored 227 runs for the loss of nine wickets in the scheduled 50 overs. Virandeep Singh scored the highest 94 runs for Malaysia. Similarly, Muhammad Sayahdat scored 55 runs. Zeshan Maqsood of Oman took four wickets.
With this win, Oman, who is in Group ‘A’, is on the second place in the table with six points from three games. Malaysia is third in the table with two points from three matches.
Group ‘A’ of ACC Premier Cup includes Oman, Qatar, Malaysia and Saudi Arabia along with Nepal and Group ‘B’ includes UAE, Hong Kong, Kuwait, Singapore and Bahrain. The winning team of the tournament will get to play in the Asia Cup in Pakistan next September. The top three teams will qualify for the ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup in July.
