President Paudel visits Gaurighat to worship Chhathi Mata

Kathmandu – President Ram Chandra Poudel has reached Guhweshwari in Kathmandu and offered prayers to Chhathi Mata.

President Poudel today visited the Chhath Puja site prepared at Gaurighat on the banks of the Bagmati River in front of the Guheshwari Temple in the Pashupati area and offered prayers to Goddess Chhathi. President Poudel was accompanied by First Lady Savita Poudel.

On the occasion of Chhath festival, which is celebrated grandly in various parts of the country, the President has a tradition of worshipping the Chhathi Mata along with the Sun at Guheshwari and Kamalpokhari every year and offering Arghya to the setting sun. However, this year, the President has only visited Guheshwari.

On the main day of Chhath festival, devotees offer Arghya to the setting sun. Hindus worship the rising sun every day. However, during Chhath festival, the setting sun is also worshipped.

On the sixth day of the month, after offering Arghya to the setting sun, the devotees and their family members rest at night with prasad offerings at the banks of rivers, lakes and lakes. The Chhath festival will formally conclude tomorrow morning after offering Arghya to the rising sun.

From today onwards, worship will be held at the ghats of rivers, lakes, and ponds during this festival, which was held at home until the Kharna ritual performed yesterday. For this, the ghats of ponds, lakes, and ponds have been decorated.
