The Emirates Cricket Board announced on Monday that Andre Russell, Moeen Ali, Sunil Narine, Chris Lynn, Colin Monroe, Wanindu Hasaranga, Sandeep Lamichhane and other international players have signed contracts as marquee players in the first edition.
Six franchise teams will compete in the IL T-20 to be held in January 2023. IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders has also bought a team in the UAE league.
According to the board, there will be 18 players in each team and there will be 4 players from the UAE and 2 players from other associate countries.
The board also said that the names of other international players will be made public soon.
Sandeep Lamichhane, who did not have a contract in the IPL last season, will continue to be signed in different leagues in the coming season.
He has signed a contract with Jamaica Talhawaz in the Caribbean Premier League starting this August.
Similarly, Sandeep Dambulla was signed to the Giants in the Sri Lankan Premier League. But due to Sri Lanka’s economic situation, the Lankan Premier League has been postponed indefinitely.
In the Big Bash League (BBL) starting from December 13 in Australia, Sandeep has also been included in the draft of foreign players.
Previously, foreign players were signed directly to play in BBL, but from the coming season, foreign players will be signed through the draft.
Earlier, Sandeep was signed directly and played for Melbourne Stars and Hobart Hurricanes. The Nepali team is currently on vacation after playing a triangular series in Scotland under the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2. Nepal is scheduled to visit Kenya in the last week of August.
