Kathmandu – Australia has won the Women’s T20 World Cup cricket title for the sixth time.
Australia defeated South Africa by 19 runs in the final in Cape Town last night. Chasing the target of 157 runs given by Australia, South Africa could only score 137 runs after losing 6 wickets in 20 overs. Laura Woolvert scored a half-century of 61 runs for South Africa.
Similarly, Chloe Tryan scored 25 runs, Marijani Kappa scored 11 runs and Tazmin British scored 10 runs. Megan Scoot, Ash Gardner, Darcy Brown and Jess Jonassen took one wicket each for Australia. Before that, Australia, who batted first, scored 156 runs after losing 6 wickets in 20 overs.
Beth Mooney contributed 74 runs for Australia. Similarly, Ash Gardner scored 29, Alyssa Healy scored 18 and Grace Harris and Meg Lunning scored 10 each.
For South Africa, Marijani Kapp and Shavanim Smale took 2/2 wickets each, while Nonkulule’s Malba and Chaloi Tryon took one wicket each.
