KATHMANDU: Defending champions Chennai Super Kings have clinched their first victory in the Indian Premier League IPL cricket.
Chennai beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by 23 runs in the first match played in Mumbai last night.
Chasing the target of 217 runs set by Chennai, Bangalore lost 9 wickets in 20 overs and managed to score only 193 runs.
Shahbaz Ahmed of Bangalore added 41 runs while Suyash Prabhudeshai and Dinesh Karthik added 34 runs each.
Mahesh Thiksana of Chennai took 4 wickets and Ravindra Jadeja took 3 wickets.
Earlier, batting first, Chennai lost 4 wickets in 20 overs and scored 216 runs. Chennai’s Shibam Dubey played an unbeaten 95-run half-century innings.
Similarly, Robin Uthappa added 88 runs. Vanindu Hasaranga de Silva of Bangalore took 2 wickets and Josh Hazlewood took 1 wicket.
Chennai has added two points in the fifth game with its first win. Bangalore has 6 points in 5 games.
