By holding a press conference in Kathmandu, he announced his retirement and said that he will not even play domestic cricket.

Batsman Malla, who played cricket for 18 years in all age groups and the national team of Nepal, started his journey from 2005 with under-15 age group cricket.

He started playing in the U-15 team in 2005 and made his debut in the national senior team from U-17 and U-19 in 2006.

In 2023, he played his last match in Nepal’s jersey against Ireland in the ICC World Cup Qualifiers at the Harare ground in Zimbabwe.

Gyanendra, who made his debut against Namibia in the 2006 Intercontinental Cup, played international cricket for more than a decade and a half. After Paras Khadka got the captaincy in 2009, Gyanendra remained as vice-captain for 10 years.

After Paras resigned from the captaincy in November 2019, Gyanendra got the responsibility of leadership. He was the captain of the Nepali national cricket team until November 2078.

But he lost the captaincy as a disciplinary action from the Nepal Cricket Association (CAN) when he led a group that raised voices about the central agreement and facilities of the players.

After being removed from the captaincy, Gyanendra played T20 World Cup Qualifiers in Oman and League Two in UAE under the captaincy of Sandeep. However, after that he stopped being in the team.

He returned to the team in T-20 and ODI cricket in early July when Nepal played against Kenya. He has scored 876 runs in 37 one-day matches for the national team.

Similarly, in 45 T-20 matches, he scored 883 and scored one century and two fifties.
