Kathmandu – Nepal have beaten New Papua New Guinea at Dubai International Cricket Stadium by 3 wickets in the ICC World Cup Cricket League-2 tri-nation ODI series.
Nepal met the target of 180 runs given by UAE by losing 7 wickets in 48 overs. Asif Sheikh scored 86 runs and Sandeep Lamichhane scored 35 runs for Nepal.
When Nepal lost 7 wickets for 150 runs, Asif and Sandeep won the tally by sharing unbeaten 77 runs for the eighth wicket. Earlier, the opener Kushal Bhurtel was dismissed in the first ball.
Similarly, when Gyanendra Malla got out after scoring 6 runs, Bhim Sarki returned to the pavilion with 8 runs. Similarly, Rahit Paidel and Arif Shaikh were dismissed for 1/1 run.
Asif Sheikh is at the crease scoring 72 runs off 115 balls. He hit 2 fours and 1 six. At the end of 42 overs, Nepal has scored 146 runs by losing 7 wickets.
Nepal is chasing the target of 180 runs given by PNG. Sandeep Lamichhane is now at the crease along with Asif. Asif and Sandeep are sharing a good partnership while losing 7 wickets for 150 runs.
After losing Kushal Bhurtel in the first ball of the innings, Nepal also lost Gyanendra Malla, who came at number three within 10 overs (power play) for 6 runs.
