Kolkata beat Channai Super Kings by 6 wickets in IPL

KATHMANDU: Kolkata Knight Riders have made a winning start in Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket.

In the inaugural match played yesterday, Kolkata defeated Chennai Super Kings by 6 wickets.

In the first match, four-time winners Chennai lost to Kolkata. Kolkata reached the target of 132 runs losing 4 wickets in 18 overs.

Kolkata’s Ajikya Rahane top-scored with 44 runs. Chennai’s Dwayne Bravo took three wickets and Mitchell Santnar one.

After losing the toss at Wankhade Ground Mumbai, Chennai lost 5 wickets in the allotted 20 overs and scored 131 runs.

Former Chennai skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni remained unbeaten on 50 runs. Jadeja, who made his debut, remained unbeaten on 26 runs.

Dhoni, who has been captaining Chennai since 2008, has handed over the captaincy to Ravindra Jadeja this time.

Two games are being played in IPL today. Delhi Capitals and Mumbai are playing at 4.15 pm and Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore are playing at 8.45 pm.
