Kathmandu: Nepal defeated Kuwait by 25 runs in the ACC Women’s T20 Cricket Championship.
Chasing the target of 108 runs set by Nepal on the shores of Malaysia, Kuwait lost 7 wickets in 20 overs and scored only 82 runs. Priyada Murali was the top scorer with 31 runs.
Nepal’s Sita Ranamagar took two wickets while Asmita Karmacharya, Sangeeta Rai and Indu Barma took one wicket each.
Earlier, losing the toss and batting first, Nepal lost 4 wickets in the allotted overs and scored 107 runs. Ruvina Chhetri added 34 not out and Indu Burma added 28 not out for Nepal. Marima Haider of Kuwait took 2 wickets.
Nepal had defeated Bhutan by 50 runs in the first match yesterday. Nepal tops the table with 4 points. 10 teams are participating in the competition.
The participating teams are divided into two groups. Nepal is in Group B along with Hong Kong, Kuwait, Bhutan and Bahrain.
Nepal will play Bahrain next Monday and Hong Kong in the final on Tuesday. The two teams that reach the final of the competition will be selected in the Women’s T20 Asia Cup.
