Kathmandu – Nepal has existed from the group stage after lost to India ‘A’ by 9 wickets in the ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup.
The general target of 168 runs given by Nepal was met by India ‘A’ by losing 1 wicket in 1 ball in 22 overs. India’s Abhishek Sharma scored 87, Sai Sudarshan scored 58 not out. On the bowling side, Nepal’s captain Rahit Paidel took 1 wicket.
After winning the toss at Sri Lanka’s R Premadasa Stadium, Nepal batted first and were bowled out for 167 runs in 39 overs. Captain Rahit Paidel scored a half century for Nepal. Rahit was dismissed after scoring 65 runs off 85 balls.
Similarly, Gulsan Jha scored 38 runs. Other batters of Nepal did not perform well. Kushal Bhurtel nil, Asif Shaikh 7, Dev Khanal 15, Bhim Sarki 4 and Kushal Malla nil, Sempal Kami 14, Pawan Sarraf 6 and Lalit Rajvanshi 3 runs out. Similarly, Kisher Mahate remained not out for 2 runs.
When Nepal scored 37 runs in 10 overs and lost 5 wickets, Rahit and Sempal handled the innings. After that, Rahit and Sempal Kami shared 53 runs for the sixth wicket.
In terms of bowling, Nishant Sindhu of India ‘A’ took 4 wickets, RS Hungergekar took 3 wickets and Harshit Rana took 2 wickets.
With this defeat, Nepal has been eliminated from the group stage before one game. Nepal, which is in Group ‘B’, was defeated by Pakistan ‘A’ by 4 wickets in the first match.
Now Nepal will play UAE ‘A’ in the final match on Wednesday. UAE has also been eliminated from the group stage. India and Pakistan have reached the semi-finals from this group.
Group ‘A’ consists of Oman, Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. Even though Oman has been eliminated from this group, the battle to reach the semi-finals has not yet been decided. All the teams except Nepal have sent ‘A’ team in the tournament.
The final match of the tournament will be held on Sunday 7th July.
