Kathmandu: The Nepali national cricket team, which is on a tour of Canada, defeated Ontario Cricket Club in the first practice match.

Nepal won the match by 69 runs. Batting first after winning the toss in King City, Nepal lost 8 wickets in 50 overs and scored 220 runs.

Chasing a target of 221 for victory, Ontario were bowled out for 151 in 42 overs with five balls to spare. Nepal’s Binod Bhandari played a half century innings of 57 runs.

Similarly, Asif Sheikh added 42 runs. Basir Ahmed added 24 runs. Sheel Patel took 3 wickets for the home team.

Ontario’s Riaz Khan Pathan top-scored with 36 runs. Nepal’s Pawan Sararf took 3 wickets.

Dipendra Singh Airy, Arif Sheikh and Kishore Mahato took the same 2/2 wickets.

There will be a one-day series between Nepal and Canada on July 6 and 7.
