Agency: Nepal’s national football team has reached Maldives yesterday to compete in the SAFF Championship, the biggest football competition in South Asia.
A SAFF championship is being organized inĀ Maldives from 15 to 30 September. The Nepali team, which had undergone final training in Qatar for almost two weeks for the tournament, reached Maldives from there yesterday.
Nepal will face Maldives in the inaugural match of the tournament on October 30. All the teams will play against each other in the group stage of this year’s SAAF Championship. The top two teams of the group will compete for the title.
This time, title contenders India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, along with Nepal and Maldives, have clearly participated. Nepal has reached Maldives for the first time with the goal of winning the championship.
