Sports Federation to organize two ODIs cricket

Kathmandu: The Nepal Sports Federation (NECOS), a sports organization of the CPN-UML, has decided to organize a two-day cricket tournament.

In the annual calendar made public by NECOS for the fiscal year 2079/80, it is mentioned that besides two-day cricket, four other events including women’s cricket tournament will also be organized.

Speaking at a press conference, NECOS Chairman Biplav Ghosh said that the six-event calendar has been made public with the aim of completing it within the next fiscal year.

This fiscal year, NECOS will run the NECOS Red Ball Cricket Festival with red and white jerseys, a two-day cricket tournament, umpires and coaches’ seminars, closed-door training for state-level players, the NECOS Women’s Cup and health camps targeting players.

NECOS has claimed that all the programs in the pipeline are for the grassroots development of cricket. These programs will be conducted in collaboration with the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), said Ghose.

He informed that the players in the age group of 19 years will be included in the red ball competition organized by NECOS.

He said that Nekos has a plan not to include the departmental team in the women’s cup.

Four teams from four semi-finals and one team from Necos will participate in the NECOS Women’s Cup.
