Wangchen Dondup takes the lead in the Premier Golf Championship

Kathmandu: Amechyo Wangchen Dondup has taken the lead on the first day of the Surya Nepal Premier Golf Championship.

In the final competition of the season which started on Monday, Wangchen scored seven under 65 on the first day to give Bhuvan Nagarkoti, Ravi Khadka and Niraj Tamang a three stroke lead. Bhuvan, Ravi and Niraj scored four under 68s on the first day.

Wangchen scored 6 under 30 in the front nine and one under 35 in the back nine.

Similarly, Shukra Bahadur Rai, amateur Sadbhav Acharya and Mahendra Fagami scored the same three under 69. Double gold medalist Subash Tamang of Rame Magar and 13th Sag scored two under 70s.

A total of 54 players including 43 professionals and 11 amateurs are participating in the tournament. The total prize money of the competition is 1.461 million and the winner will receive 250,000.

Similarly, the runner-up will get Rs 155,000 and the third place winner will get Rs 110,000. This competition is the competition with the highest prize money of the season.
